Hi,
I was wondering what the best process for setting up a US “branch” would be. We are a Canadian corporation that plans on making clothes in California and sell online in the states and around the world. We would like to distribute out of California to eliminate additional shipping charges. What is the easiest way to go about this?
Hannah,
You are able to register a business in California by filling out a simple form, without being required to be physically present or a resident in the United States, and you may list your Canadian corporation as the owner of the company. Also, you may use the same address and name as the company in Canada (provided it is available), and you will not be required to submit and financial or identification documents to do so.
We have a research article titled ‘U.S. Companies for Foreigners‘, which will help you compare the different entity types you could register, as well as find more information and resources on the procedure for international residents registering a U.S. business entity.
