My partner and I are developing a pet care product line, to be sold online. We will incorporate prior to selling but need to secure our product name to get started. Is securing a DBA the best way accomplish this?
Dear Elizabeth,
If you are looking to protect a brand name the best direction to go would be registering a trade mark with the USPTO.
Registering a DBA, or even incorporating using the brand name could provide some, but very limited, protection to the brand. I would recommend you to consult an Intellectual Property attorney for further information.
