Register Your Trade Name in New Jersey
Registering a DBA in New Jersey
New Jersey has separate procedures for filing DBA, depending on the type of company filing it:
- DBA filed by an individual (sole proprietorship) or general partnership is called “trade name”, and it is registered by filing a trade name application with the county clerk of the counties in which the company conducts or transacts or intends to conduct the business (and not with Secretary of State’s Office). The fee to file a trade name certificate varies depending on the county. Statement must be notarized prior to filing.
- DBA filed by an organized entity (such as LLC or corporation) is called “Alternate/Fictitious Name”, and it is registered by filing Alternate Name application with New Jersey Division of Revenue. This application does not need to be notarized prior to filing.
We can help you research the assumed or fictitious business name of your choice, and prepare and file all the necessary registration paperwork with the county clerk of your choice or the Division of Revenue, depending on company type – all you need to do is complete our simple application below.
